![]() #-o You listen to the music, not the equipment. But for the rest I agree, headshell changes are a smarter move for cartridges swaps. Digital Turntable Stylus Force Gauge 0.01g Neoteck LP Scale Gauge Blue 3-Digit LCD Backlight for Vinyl Players Tonearm Phono Cartridge with 5.00g Calibration Weight. So this goes to tell that it aimed for cartridges swaps. Last alloy Ortofon SPU "G" type headshell I bought had very old wires soldered to the pins inside the headshell. Like all the other and previous other owner's of such cartridges have done since 1962 in this example. ![]() Still, from time to time I have to change my HO MC DL-102 cartridge when the stylus worns out. Humble me I am a single cartridge (well I have same model replacements), single turntable, single phono set up kinda guy and consider myself first as a music lover, a record collector before being an audiophile. I agree that a good solid connection is paramount, but if anyone complains about cartridge wires being flimsy, etc., it's their own fault for misusing the damn things. If you are looking the very best turntable with a built-in preamp my top recommendation is the Rega Planar 1 Plus. I own one myself and it is a complete bargain. It has a preamp, Bluetooth and it is fully automatic. This is, of course, not normal procedure for these products. My top recommendation for an affordable turntable with preamp is the Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT. This repeated "changing" stemmed from the audiophile-nut world, along with the internet-driven suggestions "get this one - get that one, oh wait, try this one!" You enjoy your music for years, perhaps changing just the stylus over time. You install the cartridge, and leave them alone. Headshell wires were never meant, never designed for repeated cartridge changing. I used the 100E stylus on my Signet cart before moving onto MLs on that cart body. ![]() The finger lift is positioned near the front of headshell to enable precise placement of the stylus onto the record. Featuring an aluminum die-cast body, the AT-HS10 is designed to keep vibration to the bare minimum. Audio Technica are a world-class vinyl company and, with the LP2X, their experience shines through. The 100E with MG10 should be a nice combo. The lightweight aluminum AT-HS10BK is a universal 1/2'-mount headshell for 4-pin turntable cartridges. The Audio Technica AT-LP2X combines quality sound with ease of use, making it the perfect way to enjoy your vinyl. That will be my cartridge choice this weekend.Īre the HS1 and HS10 the newer model headshells from AT? I have an MG10 which I really like but can't go back to using until I get some shims or another turntable with height adjustable arm. I mounted my AT100e on the MG10 with them. They did fit on the AT MG10 Headshell nicely though. You are right about the smaller connections on the headshell side! Too small for the HS1 or HS10 headshell made by Audio Technica! WTH! I did not force them. I think they are designed for headshells with the 1mm pins and carts with the slightly larger pins. Especially if you try to crimp them under their jackets. ![]() They look like high quality leads for $13! BTW, the LP Gear Soar wires end up being pretty fragile over time. I just ordered a couple of sets of AT6101's. ![]()
